To honour the memory of the many young people who made the ultimate sacrifice during our struggle for liberation, the government officially launched Youth Month 2019 under the theme: 25 Years of Democracy: A celebration of youth activism.
In line with the celebration of 25 years of democracy, Inside Education today brings you the first batch of the 100 South African Shining Stars, who have gone the extra mile to uplift their communities across South Africa’s nine provinces.
We at Inside Education believe the 2019 Youth Month must be used to accelerate conversations with the young people of South Africa on how to get to the proverbial Promised Land. Debates on economic transformation, how to reduce the high level of unemployment and inequality should take center stage amongst the South African Youth.
You see, across our land, far removed from the glitz and glamour of the TV screens, young South Africans are evoking and giving meaning to the famous and historic words of former US President John F. Kennedy: “Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.”
Whether you making your mark in Sports, Arts, Culture, Media and Entertainment, Business & Entrepreneurship, Civil Society and Youth Activism, Education, Environment, Health, Justice & Law, Philanthropy, Politics & Governance or Science & Technology, we recognize and applaud your remarkable contributions which impact on other young people across South Africa and beyond.
Your patience, perseverance, empathy, and compassion along with your leadership attributes, business acumen, technological skills infused with an appetite to build a better South Africa are truly commendable.
This is our way of saying THANK YOU!
To South Africa’s 100 Shining Stars, may your efforts continue to illuminate the path of darkness.
We respect you… We salute you… We are proud of you!
